Cerulean by Baths

I'm sure the fact cerulean was my favorite crayon color as a kid has something to do with why I love this album so much...

New Mix by DJ PZB!

From my good friend DJ PZB (a.k.a. Josh Brooks) himself - "Time for something kind of different. I got inspired by this guy Burns and his compilation Euro Sex. Its pretty Cool you should check it out. I was listening to his mix and I wanted to do something similar. I tried to pick as many songs not from the compilation as I could but some were just too good to leave out. I love the Sha Shtill! Track mid-way through. Also Deadmau5 threw this kid Skrillex up on facebook yesterday and I gotta say this is some kick as shit. OH and Tellyfoam is another track that I absolutely love. Anyway enjoy listening..."

Wild Smile by Suckers

I wanted to do a long & fabulous post about Pacific Sunwear's free Summer Solstice Beach Ballyhoo at Santa Monica Pier last weekend but, after waiting in a HUGE clusterf*ck of a line for over an hour on Saturday afternoon, I eventually gave up & never even made it inside the actual event. Luckily, I was able to hear all of Ra Ra Riot's set very clearly from line but I couldn't see a thing. I could go into a LOT more detail about how poorly planned & executed the Beach Ballyhoo was but, because I try to stay true to the whole "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all" motto, we'll just move on to a new band & album I'm currently enjoying: Wild Smile by Suckers :-)

COLD CAVE

Today I bought my presale tickets to see Spoon on September 30th at The Hollywood Palladium & I am STOKED. Spoon's sunset show on the main stage at Coachella 2010 was INCREDIBLE so I think it's safe to assume their own, non-festival show is gonna be pretty damn impressive. It'll be my 4th Spoon show ever & I'm already counting down the days! Due to my excitement, I had to check out the band opening for Spoon, Cold Cave, as soon as I got home from work tonight. I like them & I'm so happy I already have tickets to see them!

Magic Potion by The Black Keys

In the next few months leading up to the September 27th Black Keys show at The Hollywood Palladium, I will be more obsessed with the band than ever before.

In 2006, The Black Keys released their 4th studio album Magic Potion & every single track was/is pure genius.

My heart belongs to Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney.

LCD Soundsystem @ The Hollywood Palladium - 6/4/10

On Friday night, I saw my 6th LCD Soundsystem show (my 3rd in a month & a 1/2!) & it was spectacular. LCD's set at Coachella 2010 was too short for my liking & I heard a rumor that James Murphy was pretty drunk at the time which, in retrospect, makes sense to me b/c, of the 6 shows I've now seen, it was my least favorite. He just didn't seem nearly as "on it"as he usually is. LCD Soundsystem's Sasquatch show & Friday night's show at The Hollywood Palladium totally made up for Coachella though. It was nice to see LCD Soundsystem for what may potentially be the last time ever in a smaller indoor venue versus a festival because they were the headliner & we got to hear a lot more songs. Murphy is claiming this is the end of LCD although I'm sure he'll still be making music & that's all that really matters. I love this man.

Lukas Nelson @ The Air Conditioned Supper Club - 6/3/10

Willie Nelson's 21-year-old son is kinda a bad ass...

SASQUATCH 2010!!!

Sasquatch 2010 was THE best concert-going experience I've ever had & I've had a lot of concert-going experiences. The Gorge is the most beautiful venue ever & the views are breathtaking. Those GORGEous views combined with the incredible musical performances Sasquatch lined up for 2010 created my own personal concert heaven. The people I met were SO nice, especially the Canadians. Camping was a blast. I didn't shower for 4 days & I didn't mind one bit. The weather cooperated which was really lucky considering the amount rain Washington got the entire week before the festival. There was the occasional drizzle but it never rained during the show & the clouds in the sky just made the scenery that much more spectacular. Memorial Day 2011 is already booked because I'm going back to Sasquatch for sure.

Standout performances for me included OK Go, Broken Social Scene, Vampire Weekend, My Morning Jacket, Deadmau5, tUnE-yArDs, Kid Cudi, LCD Soundsystem, Pavement, Massive Attack, Passion Pit, Band of Horses, MGMT & Ween! I kinda dropped the ball & forgot to take photos &/or videos during Vampire Weekend & My Morning Jacket's sets. I was too busy having fun :-) Then my camera died during MGMT so I wasn't able to get any footage of Ween's performance which was a bummer because they kicked some serious ass.
