Except Death by !!! (Chk Chk Chk) - en Mouv'Session

I've only listened to !!! (Chk Chk Chk)'s new album Thriller 1x so far but I'm already obsessed! The 1st thing I did when I got to work this morning was buy a pair a tix to their 6/1 show at El Rey...since that's clearly the most professional thing to do when you 1st get to work in the morning :)

I can't wait to see !!! live again especially now that they've got 9 new SICK tracks that are going to make for an even bigger !!! dance party than ever before!!!

My 1st brand new favorite !!! track off Thriller is Except Death:

Devendra Banhart Is Gonna Be SO Good at Sasquatch!!

I'm SO excited to see Devendra Banhart for my 1st time at Sasquatch next month! These new tracks are f*ckin great!! His lyrics crack me up :-D :-D

Your Fine Petting Duck - "If he ever treats you bad, please remember how much worse I treated you."

Never Seen Such Good Things - "If we ever make sweet love again, I'm sure that it will be quite disgusting. Race to the end, race to the end."

Bat For Lashes @ Fonda Theatre - 4/23/13

I'm not quite sure where I've been but, somehow, I never knew much about Bat For Lashes until I saw her play the Fonda last night. I'd heard a few songs of her songs before but never made much of an effort to get acquainted with her material. That's all changing now that I've seen British singer/songwriter Bat For Lashes aka Natasha Khan live. I'm newly obsessed with the woman. Not only is her voice ridiculously beautiful live but she's also CRAZY hot (& her shiny, backless, red crop top only made her hotter)!

When Natasha sang the song Laura, it almost brought tears to my eyes. It was unbelievabe. Be sure to check out her live performance of it on the Jools Holland show below.

P.S. Thanks SO much to my fellow live music-obsessed friend Chris M. for hooking me up with a FREE ticket to last night's show! I couldn't be happier we both got to see BFL for our 1st time together :)

Oh Yeah live at The Fonda last night - And I apologize in advance for the quality of the video itself (the audio sounds good!). My regular camera is currently dead after I lost my charger at Coachella. I ordered a new charger that should arrive any day now! Thank god! iPhone videos just don't do it for me :-/

Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner & Nico Muhly's Planetarium @ Walt Disney Concert Hall - 4/22/13

My 1st show at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown LA was unique to say the least. Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner of The National & Nico Muhly's Planetarium project was definitely unlike anything else I've ever seen &/or heard! My video below does the show NO justice because I was trying to take the video without getting caught & only the audio turned out OK. The photos will give you a better idea of what happened last night but the only way to truly experience this celebration (?) of the solar system is to see it yourself! You'll especially enjoy it if you're as bitter about Pluto no longer being deemed a technical planet as Sufjan & Nico are. Sufjan called it flat-out "offensive." LOL

Brokechella 2013

Brokechella was worth WAY more than $10 per person. I would've paid more than that just to see PZB & Hello Echo alone! What a fun Saturday afternoon :)

Hello Echo

Joshua Brooks aka PZB

Blackhole by Beck

This track from Beck's 1994 super classic album Mellow Gold is SO good then silent then SO weird. The weird part is technically a hidden track called Analog Odyssey but it's pretty much just a bunch of noise. The 1st 5 minutes of the song are great though. I promise.

Beck's the best.

Get Lucky by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams - NEW!!!!!

The 1st new Daft Punk single is officially HERE!!!

At least that strange album promo/trailer aired immediately before Yeah Yeah Yeahs' set at Coachella last Friday night wasn't TOO premature. And I now realize where I already heard this song before! It was SO funny how the crowd reacted. It definitely would've been incredible if Daft Punk suddenly came out on stage with Karen O but I knew that wasn't happening. Apparently they show trailers before concerts now...lol...see what they showed us below.

COACHELLA 2013 - Weekend 1 - Year of the Dust Storm & Team Waldo

Last weekend was my 9th time attending the always epic Coachella Valley Music Festival in Indio, California &, although I didn't think it was possible at this point for the festival to get any cooler or for the fun level to get any higher, I was wrong because the fest itself AND my car camping crew were both bigger & better than ever!! Team Waldo consisted of approximately 11 cars & 30 BAD ASS music-lovers who bonded instantaneously Thursday night over an insane game of flip cup, medicinal chocolate & camp dance parties :)

Favorite acts of the weekend = Yeah Yeah Yeahs, How To Destroy Angels (their 2nd live performance ever was both visually & audibly INCREDIBLE!!), Pretty Lights, Moby's DJ set, Hot Chip, Puscifer (still can't believe I got see both Reznor & Maynard in the same 24 hours!), Violent Femmes, New Order, Alt-J, Jurrasic 5, Portugal, The Man, Of Monsters & Men & Modest Mouse.

Biggest regrets of the weekend = Missing Blur because my Yeah Yeah Yeahs crew was dissipating & I didn't want to get lost & be wandering around alone the rest of the night & missing 2chainz because I was hellbent on getting into the Yuma to see The 2 Bears. The new Yuma stage was bullshit. A small, hardwood floored, air conditioned stage sounded pretty cool in theory until we all discovered it was practically impossible to get into unless you were willing to miss an hour or more of all the other shows going on to wait in a huge line at the Yuma. Needless to say, I didn't get to see The 2 Bears either which was my 3rd biggest regret :-/ But, luckily, in the grand scheme of things, these regrets were minor hiccups :)

A-Trak's Instagram photo & comment = "Coachella ticket $350, finding Waldo...Priceless."

Fun fact: Photos of my Waldo car camping crew were being tweeted & Instagramed all day Saturday by random people who spotted us on the polo fields. A-Trak himself even Instagrammed a pic of a few of my friends & it got over 1000 likes! We all felt so popular! Little did we know a theme we chose simply because it was easy for everyone to match & because it would ideally give us a SLIGHTLY better chance of being able to find each other inside the festival would end up being such a hit! We've already decided to do it again at Outside Land in August :)
