Remixes Made With Tennis Data by James Murphy (of LCD Soundsystem)

If you like tennis & James Murphy &/or LCD Soundsystem, then James Murphy's latest album entitled Remixes Made With Tennis Data is for you!! 

I'm not sure where the idea initially came from but James Murphy worked with IBM to convert raw data sounds pulled from U.S. Open tennis matches into listenable, danceable music. By utilizing a specific algorithm I won't pretend to understand, Murphy & IBM ended up creating over 400 hours worth of sound then Murphy remixed that material into the album now entitled Remixes Made With Tennis Data. 

There are no vocals on any of the 12 tracks so don't expect anything TOO similar to my beloved LCD Soundsystem but this upbeat, instrumental, electronic music makes for a great working, studying, exercising &/or cleaning the house soundtrack!

Jamie XX's Sunday night closing set at FYF Fest was 1 of my favorite acts of the weekend & I'm now obsessed with the man. I've listened to this 55-minute Boiler Room mix straight through 4 times already in the past 48 hours!

The Man & Grouplove at The Greek Theatre which was on 8/15 AND, after I finally get to FYF, I'll need to immediately post about NIN & Soundgarden at Hollywood Bowl last night! August has been a VERY busy, INCREDIBLE month of live music!!!

Marvin Gaye's Sunny Remixed by Mercury (Edit II)

My favorite newlyweds, Charlene & Dan, did 1 of the coolest things ever for the attendees of their recent wedding celebration. They created a 9 HOUR mix CD with just a few of their favorite tracks ;-) I'm not even an hour into it & I'm already obsessed. I'm certainly going to get a LOT of blog material from it!!

New Mix by DJ PZB!

From my good friend DJ PZB (a.k.a. Josh Brooks) himself - "Time for something kind of different. I got inspired by this guy Burns and his compilation Euro Sex. Its pretty Cool you should check it out. I was listening to his mix and I wanted to do something similar. I tried to pick as many songs not from the compilation as I could but some were just too good to leave out. I love the Sha Shtill! Track mid-way through. Also Deadmau5 threw this kid Skrillex up on facebook yesterday and I gotta say this is some kick as shit. OH and Tellyfoam is another track that I absolutely love. Anyway enjoy listening..."
