Dark Horse by Katy Perry

I realize I'm probably going to be ridiculed for this but I don't care!! I absolutely LOVE the song Dark Horse by Katy Perry featuing Juicy J. The beat is amazing, the lyrics are catchy & the video is very entertaining.

I don't always listen to pop music but, when I do, it's the good stuff :)

Kraftwerk Performing The Man-Machine at Walt Disney Concert Hall - 3/19/14

I am SO very glad my concert buddy, Joe, was so very kind as to offer me a reduced-price ticket to Kraftwerk's performance of The Man-Machine at Walt Disney Concert Hall last Wednesday night in exchange for a lift to the venue! It was an excellent deal :)

It was also unbelievably rad to witness a live 3D rendition of the German electronic band's 7th studio album released all the way back in 1978! These guys are the fathers of electronic music & to say I was entranced would be an understatement.

P.S. I tried to take the below videos & photos through my 3D glasses. It kind of worked!!

Sunrise Sunset by We Are Trees

This very Grizzly Bear-esqe song is soothing my soul after an extremely stressful day.

Primitive by Real Estate

I'm a little late to the party on this one but I'm finally getting into Real Estate...the band, not the industry. I've been working IN real estate the past 5 1/2 years! Lol! Bad joke.

Anyway, people have been buzzing about Real Estate for a while & I just never got around to listening to any of their material until yesterday when I heard 2 albums straight through & I'm now hooked!

Real Estate's music is nice & mellow yet still upbeat enough to keep your foot tapping. It's a perfect soundtrack for paperwork...which I'm currently buried under! Music at work is my only comfort.

Water Fountain by tUnE-yArDs (NEW!!!)

The 1st single off tUnE-yArDs' new album Nikki Nack is all I hoped it would be & more. Merrill Garbus (known more commonly by her stage name, tUnE-yArDs) is 1 of the most uniquely talented women in music today. She can simulate an entire band all by herself! She's a master of looping both her vocals & herself playing a wide variety of instruments (i.e. ukele, drums, etc) &, at times, it sounds as though she grew up somewhere where yodeling was far more common than it is on the east coast.

I have already seen tUnE-yArDs live 4 or 5 times but I'm still beyond excited to see her on May 5th at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery! Surprisingly, it'll be my 1st show ever inside the Masonic Lodge so that's 1 more reason I'm pumped.

I love Merrill so much that I'm willing to wait an extra day to watch the 2-hour premiere of 24 since that airs on 5/5 as well! I hope she realizes the sacrifices I make for her ;)

I also can't wait to hear more material from Nikki Nack (set for release the very next day on 5/6) LIVE! There's no better way to hear new music for the 1st time!

I Was Thinking by Gauntlet Hair

Of course I'm introduced to (& now super into) a duo named Gauntlet Hair that announced their official break-up back in August 2013. Darnit!

Regardless, this track is radical.

Little Fang by Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks

David Portner of Animal Collective's (who occasionally performs solo as Avey Tare) has formed a new trio called Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks with ex-Dirty Projectors member Angel Deradoorian & former Ponytail drummer Jeremy Hyman. On April 8th, they're set to release their debut album Enter The Slasher House.

Their adorably strange & trippy video for the single Little Fang (directed by Portner’s sister, Abby Portner) is getting me extra excited to hear the rest of the album. The Little Fang puppet (created by the visual effects company Jim Henson’s Creature Shop) purring at the beginning of the video reminds me of my cat Cleo! :)

Red Eyes by The War On Drugs

I was lucky enough to snag an early copy of The War on Drugs' new album Lost In The Dream & the entire record is fabulous. The album is being released 1 week from tomorrow on 3/18. I HIGHLY suggest you get your hands on a copy ASAP!

Falling Bough by Kiev

Discovering the band Kiev has made this brutal day at work slightly more bearable...

Bitter by Atmosphere (NEW!)

I'm really diggin' the 1st single off Atmosphere's upcoming 8th studio album Southsiders (set for release on May 6th!).

Atmosphere is my favorite hip hop artist pretty much ever...especially since they're still consistently releasing quality albums & touring. I just love Slug's rhymes & Ant's beats SO much!!

A Dream Of You And Me by Future Islands (NEW!)

Before FYF Fest 2012, I'd never even heard of Future Islands but, due to several recommendations, I caught their entire set at FYF '12 & was beyond impressed. The lead singer is a trip live & these 3 dudes have a TON of energy on stage. I'm very much looking forward to seeing them again at Coachella next month!

Love Me Like I'm Not Made Of Stone by Lykke Li (NEW OFFICIAL VIDEO!!!)

In 1 of the 1st singles off Lykke Li's last album Wounded Rhymes, Lykke lustily crooned "I'm your prostitute. You gonna get some." In her latest single (released just this morning) off her upcoming album I Never Learn (set for release on May 6th), Lykke is singing an incredibly different tune.

Re: the new album, Lykke said "Every song on the album is a power ballad. Like one of those old radio stations. This is a slow dance; a slow burner."

I Never Learn Tracklist:
01. I Never Learn
02. No Rest for the Wicked
03. Just Like a Dream
04. Silverline
05. Gunshot
06. Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone
07. Never Gonna Love Again
08. Heart of Steel
09. Sleeping Alone

Goodbye Future by The Presets

Australian electronic duo The Presets' new video for the track Goodbye Future features violent historical figures on a dancefloor. Sure...why not?
