Father John Misty Performing Arcade Fire's The Suburbs

Father John Misty performed 1 of the best Arcade Fire covers I've ever heard during his CBC's b.b. gun session at the Shed in Vancouver when he nailed a beautiful, acoustic version of AF's The Suburbs. Apparently, he performed for only 25 VERY lucky people who I'm sure were thrilled when he threw this song into the mix!

No Offense to Sir Elton John But...

...My Morning Jacket's cover of Rocket Man is even better than the original. I still can't wait to hear Elton John play it live at Outside Lands in SF in August though! I'm sure I'll like his version too :)

I know it's a huge stretch but I feel the need to point out MMJ doesn't currently have a show scheduled for Sunday 8/9 & that's the night EJ is headlining Outside Lands. I'm gonna go ahead & dream that Jim James might pop up as a special guest during Elton John's performance although I realize it's ridiculously unlikely since they're playing in Georgia on 8/7 & 8/8 & Alabama on 8/10. If only they were closer to Cali that weekend!

Happy 40th Anniversary to Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti!!

Happy 40th Anniversary to Led Zeppelin's renowned 6th studio, double album Physical Graffiti which was released on February 24, 1975!!

I'm so grateful NPR Music shared this AMAZING performance of Kashmir (plus a medley of The Ocean & Immigrant Song) by the Louisville Leopard Percussionists, a percussion ensemble of fifty-five 7 to 12-year-old kids from multiple schools in Kentucky, in honor of this special day. Jimmy Page also recently posted the video on Facebook saying it's "too good not to share!"

Led Zeppelin will forever be at the top of my list of bands I WISH I could've seen live. I did have the pleasure of seeing Robert Plant at The Shrine Auditorium on June 26, 2013 which is probably as close as I'll ever get to seeing LZ live & he blew me away. The man's voice is only getting better with age! It's unbelievable.

I'm now going to ROCK OUT out to Zeppelin ALL DAY & I suggest you do the same!

2 Rad Versions of Money (That's What I Want)

The best things in life may be free but, because I'm currently seeking a new, amazing job in the music industry, money is what I want too!!

The 1960 original song Money (That's What I Want) by Barrett Strong:

My favorite cover of Money by The Flying Lizards:

LOST

The 1st time I heard the song Lost was on November 7th 2012 when Divine Fits performed a FANTASTIC cover of the Frank Ocean original at The Fonda Theatre. I managed to capture a pretty decent-quality video of the entire song that you can watch right HERE:

After the show, I immediately looked up the Frank Ocean version of Lost, became temporarily obsessed &, 2 years later, I still love it. It's a classic.

Taylor Swift Covering Vance Joy's Riptide in the BBC's Live Lounge

As a matter of principle, I have always refused to call myself a Taylor Swift fan despite thinking she's pretty adorable & having no real reason to truly DISlike her but, lately, 3 specific things have started to swing me toward slight Taylor Swift fandom:

1 - Taylor's live, acoustic(ish), BBC Live Lounge cover of Vance Joy's Riptide.

2 - The fact Taylor threw a party at her house for her biggest fans (who I assume were picked via a contest or lottery of some sort) where she took tons of photos with everyone & even let people play with (& take photos with her) cat.

3 - No matter how hard I try to NOT like it, I DO actually like her hit single Shake It Off. It always gets stuck in my head AND my 3 1/2-year-old niece loves to sing it too which means we sing it ALL the time when we're hanging out :)

(Lover) You Don't Treat Me No Good LIVE COVER by Chet Faker & "The Other Guys"

Neil Young (aka JIMMY FALLON) Covering FANCY with Crosby, Stills & Nash

I know I'm a week late on this one but it still must be said (& IN CASE YOU MISSED IT last week!): Jimmy Fallon is 1 of the most talented people on television right now. The fact that he can sing SO perfectly in Neil Young's voice while covering a modern, pop track from a completely polar opposite genre of music while also playing both guitar AND harmonica is just incredible & adding a little help from Crosby, Stills & Nash is just the icing on the cake!

The Moon Song (from the film HER) by Karen O & Ezra Koenig

I love this song, this film & Karen O all SO much! They might as well give Karen O the Oscar for Best Original Song right now!

Chvrches cover Janelle Monáe's Tightrope Live at Billboard Women In Music 2013

Until today, I'd never heard anyone cover 1 of my favorite Janelle Monáe tracks, Tightrope, but, at Billboard's Women in Music event in December, Chvrches did a pretty sweet live alternate version of Tightrope that Monáe herself really seemed to enjoy! Check it out...

BECK Covering Love by John Lennon!

It's probably semi-sacreligious of me to admit I like Beck's cover of John Lennon's super famous song Love SLIGHTLY more than the original but oh well! Beck is even more of a music god to me (personally) than John Lennon so it makes sense I enjoy Beck's version a little more.

Also, it's the perfect song to ring in 2014! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Daughter's Cover of "Perth" (Bon Iver) vs "Ready For The Floor" (Hot Chip)

Daughter doing another rad cover..this time it's a mash up of Perth by Bon Iver & Ready For The Floor by Hot Chip. 2 of my faves :)

Daughter Cover's DAFT PUNK's New Single Get Lucky

FANTASTIC Cover of Leonard Cohen's AVALANCHE

No Diggity by Chet Faker (Blackstreet Cover)

I like the way Chet works it...NO DIGGITY. I gotta bag it up.

Soulwax & Mr. Little Jeans Do ARCADE FIRE

If I had the talent to pull it off, I'd cover Arcade Fire too!
