VIBE FEST @ The Vibe Hotel on Hollywood Blvd - 10/8/11

After months of work, stress & anxiety, VIBE FEST (the 1st live music event I ever produced...along with my 2 fabulous, music-loving collaborators, Melissa & Katie) was a HUGE success!! I couldn't be happier about how everything turned out &, because I couldn't put it any better myself, please check out the article below by Emily Green of http://la.guestofaguest.com/ (the original article can be found at http://la.guestofaguest.com/la-shows/three-chicks-one-dream-inside-the-first-ever-vibe-fest/) then check out some my own personal videos from VIBE FEST!!!
Between FILTER Magazine's Culture Collide Festival to Incan Abraham's record release show and partying with Cut Copy, we have been all about music this week and we still haven't even gotten to last weekend's first ever Vibe Fest in Hollywood. The event at the Vibe Hotel was the brainchild of three young ladies who decided to take a risk and produce their very own mini music festival, just like that.
Vibe Fest producers Lauren BoitanoMelissa Taylorand Katie Limle picked the Vibe Hotel on Hollywood Blvd for the event, a place you've probably passed a million times but never noticed. A stroke of genius on their part, the dive-y throwback motor hotel was the ideal setting for the occasion, boasting a central courtyard with plenty of room for a stage, foosball, and ping pong, a tiki garden for food and drinks, and a special room for DJ sets and dancing.
An eclectic crowd moseyed through the various areas set up for the day-long music event where festers enjoyed an all-L.A. local lineup that included acoustic performances by SteffalooEric Edmond Vasquez, as well as sets from bands Josh Boyd and The Bedroom BandTwin FalconsAtlantic Line and headliner The Ross Sea Partywho killed it to close out the night. While guests swayed and tapped their feet to the live music as they sipped on beer and wine, the DJ room was POPPING OFF with a serious dance party thanks to sets spun by PZBHeavy Accents and Merbert Moover.
Somehow Cheez-Its became a popular part of the equation in there but nobody seemed to know where they came from. Regardless, Cheez-Its are delicious and a welcome addition to any activity in my book.
Props to Melissa, Lauren and Katie for not just talking about it, but being about it and putting together a successful first Vibe Fest. Same time next year?

Little Dragon @ The Avalon in Hollywood - 10/6/11

After stealthily hanging Little Dragon posters around the UCLA campus a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to earn 2 free tickets to their October 6th show at The Avalon in Hollywood & I must admit it made me feel kinda special to claim my free tix from will call. Saving $70+ didn't hurt either &, as expected, Little Dragon was fantastic.

TV On The Radio, Arctic Monkeys, Panda Bear, Warpaint & Smith Westerns @ The Hollywood Bowl - 9/25/11

My last (& 4th) 2011 concert at The Hollywood Bowl was a doozy!

5 bands in 1 night was a little overwhelming but the rotating stage helped :-)

Bright Eyes @ The Hollywood Forever Cemetery - 9/23/11

Last Friday night, I accidentally ended up with concert tickets to 2 different shows (Twin Shadow at The Troubadour & Bright Eyes at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery) yet somehow completely forgot I needed to sell my Twin Shadow tix until about 4:30pm that afternoon. I made a couple last minute attempts on Craigslist & Facebook offering the Twin Shadow tix for far under face value but no one hit me up & the pair went to waste.

I'm usually totally on top of my concert tix situation but, last Friday, I dropped the ball. When you go to multiple concerts each week, I'm sure these things are bound to happen but, despite the mix-up, I'm SO happy I picked Bright Eyes that night! They were INCREDIBLE! And Kurt Vile's opening set was super impressive too!
